EV trucks accelerating decarbonization across industries are now deployed as airport work vehicles
Folofly Inc. (CEO: Hiroyasu Koma, Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan), an EV manufacturer, is actively developing and promoting 1-ton class commercial EV trucks optimized for last-mile delivery.
The F1 Series, designed specifically to meet the needs of working vehicles, has attracted interest from over 100 companies and has contributed to decarbonization across various industries, including logistics, construction, convenience stores, healthcare, agriculture, consumer distribution and retail, and local governments.
Now, ANA Narita Airport Service Co., Ltd. (President: Koji Oka, Headquarters: Narita, Chiba) has introduced the folofly F1 VAN, which has been in operation as an airport equipment transport vehicle within the Narita Airport area since January 30.
Decarbonization Plans at Airports Nationwide – Aiming for a 46% Reduction by 2030
In 2022, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced its Basic Policy for Promoting Aviation Decarbonization, which set the overarching goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions at each airport by more than 46% (compared to 2013 levels) by 2030 and maximizing the use of renewable energy sources to achieve carbon neutrality across airports. ※1
Currently, approximately 13,000 airport vehicles are in operation nationwide, but the EV and FCV adoption rate remains at only around 6%. ※2 The transition to EVs and FCVs for airport operations is an urgent issue.
Against this backdrop, folofly’s EV truck has been adopted for the first time as an airport work vehicle, aligning with Japan’s 2030 emissions reduction target. This marks an important step in expanding EV adoption within the aviation industry, offering a new option for promoting electrification in airport operations.
Future Outlook
With the delivery to ANA Narita Airport Service as a starting point, folofly aims to further promote the introduction of low-environmental-impact EVs for logistics, transportation, and service providers in Japan and abroad, including airport operations.
As an EV manufacturer, folofly is committed to contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions across society. Moving forward, the company will continue working with forward-thinking businesses dedicated to building a sustainable future, enhancing support and after-sales services, and developing vehicle models and services tailored to logistics needs, ultimately promoting decarbonization while balancing economy and ecology.

■About folofly’s F1 Series – Meeting Decarbonization Demands in the Commercial Automotive Sector
folofly has adopted a “horizontal division of labor” model, similar to that of smartphones, where product development and design are conducted domestically, while production is outsourced. This approach has allowed the company to develop and launch the F1V and F1T, 1-ton class EV trucks optimized for last-mile delivery, at twice the usual speed.
Since obtaining its commercial vehicle registration in September 2022, the F1VAN has been steadily introduced across Japan, including the Tokyo metropolitan area (Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama), the Chubu region, and from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south.
Starting in 2023, folofly has expanded its lineup with new models featuring enhanced safety and convenience features. In July, the F1VAN was officially recognized as an eligible vehicle under the Subsidy Program for Promoting the Electrification of Commercial Vehicles.
