Demonstration Test Launches for Environmentally Friendly Shared Bicycle Service Utilizing Renewable Energy and folofly’s EV Truck

Folofly Co., Ltd. (CEO: Hiroyasu Koma, Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture), an EV manufacturer that introduced Japan’s first 1-ton class EV truck designed for last-mile logistics, announced its second original model—the flatbed folofly F1 TRUCK—in June of last year. The model gained attention from a wide range of industries for its customizable cargo space.

This time, the folofly F1 TRUCK has been selected as the demonstration vehicle for a project being carried out in Chuo City, Tokyo, by NTT DOCOMO, INC. and DOCOMO BIKE SHARE, INC. The initiative aims to optimize bicycle redistribution for a shared-cycle system using renewable energy and EV trucks.

Further details on the demonstration project are available on the official websites of the participating companies.

Background of folofly F1 Series Development – Responding to Decarbonization Needs in the Commercial Vehicle Industry

folofly employs a horizontal division of labor model similar to the smartphone industry, focusing on planning and design in Japan while outsourcing production overseas. This approach enabled the company to develop and release Japan’s first 1-ton class EV trucks—the F1 VAN and F1 TRUCK—at twice the typical speed.

As commercial vehicles face increasing pressure to decarbonize, demand varies widely by industry, transportation method, and cargo. folofly continues to work with forward-thinking companies committed to building a sustainable society and contributes to decarbonization through the development of vehicles and services tailored to specific logistics needs.
